In this spotlight, we would like to highlight two of our employees who have contributed so much to our company. Both of these employees are committed to providing the best possible experience for our customers. They are reliable and hardworking, and they truly care about the success of Urban Value Corner Store.
Elizabeth Chandler
Elizabeth Chandler began her career as a part-time associate with Urban Value Corner Store. She quickly rose through the ranks and now manages one of our flagship stores in Plano, Texas. Elizabeth is passionate about providing an exceptional shopping experience for residents and establishing strong relationships with the leasing teams. Her dedication to excellence has earned her recognition in our Spotlight program. We are proud to have Elizabeth on our team, and we know she will continue to be a valuable asset to our company.
Elizabeth knew the moment she walked into the store that Urban Value Corner Store had set high standards and would be a fun and rewarding place to work. It's hard not to have a good time when surrounded by people who are just as excited about your company and are truly appreciated as employees and as people.
What attracted you to Urban Value Corner Store?
This is not your typical "convenience store." In fact, I would not even classify it at the same level. Urban Value Corner Store has set standards high for apartment amenities, and that drew me in. It's unique and exhilarating. Besides, it's a fun place to work.
What keeps you driving forward in your role?
Every day we have so many opportunities to meet new residents and build long-lasting relationships. This inspires my team and me. Having such encouraging management and team drives me to want to succeed in my role and further motivates my employees to want to do the same. Another drive for me is knowing that I am working for a thriving company that will open so many doors for my own personal growth in life as well as in the company.
What is the best part of your job?
Some of the high points of my job are building customer relations with the residents and fellow employees of the community. Each resident that I see has a different story to tell, and it is a privilege to be able to connect and learn about who I serve. I am blessed to have such an amazing team around me. They truly make such a positive impact on my job, and it is something I look forward to every day.
What would you say to someone who wants to work for Urban Value Corner Store?
I speak very highly of Urban Value Corner Store to everyone that I talk to. If someone wanted to join our incredible team, I would tell them that they are starting in the right place at the right time. In today's work environment, there are many options; however, I have found that this corner store amenity is a great place to work. I would then proceed to tell them that Urban Value Store has some of the best management that I personally have had the honor of working for. The teamwork is very strong, which makes our company a great place to work. We are a fast-growing company, so that would mean endless opportunities for growth that you would not find anywhere else.
Regan Manly
Regan began his career as an assistant manager at an Urban Value Corner Store four years ago. He quickly proved himself to be a hard worker with a strong worth ethic. Over the years we saw him grow his career to a Store Manager and most recently as our Regional Operations Manager. Regan has been instrumental in the growth of the company, developing many of our current merchandising and operational procedures. He is a highly respected member of our team, and we are confident that he has a very bright future ahead of him. Regan is a key asset to our company, and we are proud to have him on our team.
What attracted you to UVCS?
From my time managing amenities in master-planned communities to my time spent working in other management positions, I have found that my passion in life is to help other people enjoy their own lives to the fullest, whether it be my fellow employees or my customers. Urban Value Corner Store's mission statement is "To enhance the living experience of our residents One Transaction at a Time," which aligns with my mission. The job is a perfect fit for me and others who genuinely want to help their surrounding communities.
What keeps you motivated in your role?
Urban Value is growing very quickly, and the problems we solve as a team today help fuel further growth in the future. Seeing the team around us grow and adapt to the challenges of scaling a company with so many moving parts has been very motivating. Being a part of the decision-making process and having a voice within the company goes a long way in driving me forward personally, and seeing the success of others that I have trained and coached along the way is the cherry on top.
What are some of the best parts of your job?
Getting to see how happy our customers are is the best part about this job. We are reminded daily of how essential we are to the residents of the communities we serve. Whether it is a resident who desperately needs that final ingredient for their favorite recipe or for the dog whose owner forgot to make the extra trip to a big box retailer for another bag of dog food, we are there to solve their immediate needs, and that provides a great feeling as an employee/operator.
What would you say to other people who want to work for UVCS?
I would say that Urban Value is a great fit for anyone who wants to start or continue growing their career in retail and retail management in an evolving world of technology that supports human interaction. At Urban Value Corner Store, all team members have a voice in the company. As managers, we know that the most valuable ideas will come from within our team. Listening and asking the right questions to our team will initiate them in their contributions. They can see their input come to fruition in real-time. It also helps to be part of a rapidly growing business where new growth opportunities arise constantly. Lastly, it is one of the few jobs I have had where I am motivated each day I wake up. So, if a potential individual wants to be part of that, then they should give us a call.
