Professional Journey

"I began my professional career at the age of 16 working in primary healthcare, where I developed essential skills such as empathy, responsibility, and interpersonal communication. After moving to the United States, my first job was at Casa Mia, a restaurant in Missouri. Over five months, I worked across multiple roles—server, cashier, order handler, and cook—which gave me my first exposure to the customer service industry and ignited my passion for learning and adapting to new challenges. Later, I joined Home Depot as a cashier and later as a translator, assisting Spanish-speaking customers. I was eventually trained as a head cashier, managing scheduling and handling cash operations. Today, I’m proud to lead the Legacy West store at Urban Value Corner Store. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue growing personally and professionally with a company that truly values its people and invests in their future."

"I was introduced to Urban Value Corner Store by CEO Steve McKinley, who was a customer at my previous workplace. The way he spoke about the company—with passion, vision, and authenticity—immediately captured my attention. When I researched Urban Value’s story and mission that evening, I was truly inspired by its innovative approach to neighborhood retail and its commitment to community connection. Urban Value reminded me of the familiar corner stores I grew up with in Latin America, but with a modern, elevated approach designed to meet today's evolving needs. Working in customer service means no two days are the same, and adapting to change has taught me perseverance and resilience. What inspires me most is the opportunity to leave a lasting, positive impact on both my team and the community we serve."

"The connections I have built with the residents we serve at the Stonebriar and Legacy West locations are undoubtedly the most fulfilling part of my role. At Urban Value, every customer is treated as an individual with their own story and preferences. Taking the time to personalize their experience—remembering small details, sharing genuine smiles, and being present in meaningful moments—has created bonds that extend beyond the store walls.

I return periodically to my first location, Stonebriar. It is always great having customers greet me warmly, remembering conversations we shared, or running into Legacy West residents outside of work and being recognized like a trusted friend—that’s priceless. It’s proof that Urban Value is more than just convenience—it’s community."

Whether addressing operational gaps or identifying new opportunities for service excellence, I’ve learned to lead with empathy, confidence, and determination. Most importantly, my background prepared me to stay calm under pressure and view every challenge as a catalyst for personal and team growth.
