At Urban Value Corner Store, we often say that Convenience is the Amenity™ — but what truly brings that promise to life is our people. This month, we’re proud to spotlight Amber Allen, whose passion for residents and team culture reflects exactly who we are as a company.
What drew Amber to Urban Value Corner Store
For Amber, it started with proximity — just seven minutes from home. But what truly drew her in was something much deeper. After learning more about our company's story and mission, she quickly realized this was more than just another job. It was a team that genuinely cares. A team committed to improving the residents’ living experience. Being part of something intentional — a company that stands behind its purpose — immediately resonated with her. And that sense of belonging motivates her to continually strive for more.

The Best Part of the Job
For Amber, the greatest reward comes at the end of a shift — knowing she made someone smile. Sometimes it’s as simple as asking a resident how their day is going. Sometimes it’s helping them find the specific product they need. But every interaction matters. She takes pride in building real connections. Getting to know residents personally. Making sure they understand we are more than just a convenience store inside their community — we are part of their everyday experience. That human connection is what turns a transaction into something meaningful.
Background & Experience
Amber brings four years of management experience in the convenience and gas station industry. That experience strengthened her leadership skills, communication, and ability to work with people from all walks of life.
She learned how to:
Lead and collaborate with a team
Communicate effectively
Listen first
Think creatively
Ask for help when needed
Those skills now guide her daily approach at UVCS. She pours herself into her store, her team, and her residents — because she truly loves what she does.
Advice for Future UVCS Team Members
Amber’s advice is simple and powerful:
Our customers are our backbone. Get to know them. Smile. Welcome them. The opportunity for growth is here — but it requires effort. If you want more, strive for more. She also emphasizes something that makes UVCS unique: the team atmosphere. There is always support. Questions are encouraged. Leadership is accessible. And most importantly, the mission is real.
Improving the living experience one resident at a time is not just a phrase — it’s a commitment.
A Personal Note
After stepping away from the workforce for eight years while traveling with her husband for his career, Amber admits she was nervous about returning. But from the interview process through her first 11 months, she says the guidance and support made the transition seamless.
Today, she makes it her mission that every resident leaves with a smile — or at least a laugh.
And in her own words:
“I do my best to improve the living experience one transaction at a time.”
Amber, thank you for your heart, your leadership, and your commitment to our residents and your team. You are exactly why Convenience is the Amenity™.
